About this policy
This policy explains how Outturn Advisory(ABN 29 365 745 217) (“Outturn”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
We collect only the personal information we need. This may include:
- your name, business name, role, email address and phone number;
- the content of enquiries and messages you send us, including through our website enquiry form;
- information about your business and its needs that you provide when discussing or engaging our services;
- billing and administrative details for clients; and
- basic technical information recorded by our website host when you visit the site, such as IP address and browser type.
Please do not send sensitive information (such as health information) or confidential financial records through our website. If an engagement requires business records, we will agree a secure way to share them.
How we collect information
We usually collect personal information directly from you — for example, when you submit an enquiry, email or call us, meet with us or engage our services. We may also collect information from publicly available sources, such as business websites and professional networking profiles, when researching or contacting businesses about our services.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and arrange discovery calls;
- provide, manage and improve our services;
- communicate with clients and prospective clients about our services;
- manage invoicing, records and other administration; and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
If we send you information about our services, you can ask us to stop at any time, and we will act on that request promptly.
Client business information and confidentiality
Clients often share commercially sensitive information with us, such as financial statements, payroll and sales data. We treat this information as confidential, use it only for the agreed engagement, limit access to what the work requires and do not disclose it to others without permission unless required by law. Specific confidentiality and data-handling terms can be set out in an engagement agreement.
Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it to:
- service providers who help us operate, such as website hosting and form processing, email and document storage providers;
- professional advisers, such as our accountant, lawyer or insurer, where reasonably necessary; and
- others where required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia. In particular, our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., and website enquiry form submissions are processed and stored on its systems, which may be located in the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate security practices.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include access controls, secure cloud services and limiting who can access information. We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.
Cookies, analytics and website data
Our website does not currently use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may record standard technical information, such as IP addresses and pages requested, for security and operational purposes. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. In limited circumstances permitted by law, we may decline a request and will explain why.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
